Wednesdays With Weston

Potty Update:

Weston loves to sit on the potty. Any time we change his diaper he makes a bee line for his little potty. He's gone about 4 or 5 times in our little potty and once at his babysitter's house. Even though he doesn't go every time he sits on the potty - he loves to go into the bathroom and sit on the potty. He gets upset if we are rushing to get him ready for the day or for bed and don't let him sit on the potty. We may have to start getting more serious about actually potty training him since he's showing real interest in it.

Teething Update:

Over the past three weeks Weston has cut three teeth. He is currently working on two more. I think most kids his age are getting their two year molars, but Weston is still working on filling in his little Jack O' Lantern smile.  We're just happy that we are one step closer to being done with the whole teething phase!

Alphabet Update:
Weston is really getting good at his alphabet. He knows almost half of his letters and is fairly consistent with reciting them. Just for my own record, these are the letters that Weston has currently mastered:
a, b, c, e, g, i, j, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, w, and x.
I bought some alphabet flashcards - not sure if you'd even enjoy them since you love Starfall (which is basically animated flashcards online), but it turns out you love the old fashioned flashcards. It's my favorite thing when you bring them to me and then curl up in my lap as I go through them with you. Your favorite book right now is Dr. Seuss' book, "ABC'. Up until a couple weeks ago Weston wouldn't make it past the first few pages... too many words and didn't seem to hold his attention. Now he will sit through the whole thing - pointing out the letters and words that he knows.

Schmoozer Update:
It used to be that we'd hand him a cracker or a snack and he'd instantly raise his other hand and say, "two?" We'd laugh and give him another treat. He has now grown even more clever. We now give him a snack - one for each hand. We count them for him, "One and two" and he responds, "three?". He's just so darn cute and tricky that we can't ever say no.

Speaking of being a schmooze - the other day we were over at Grandma Nettie's house and he knows that there is a candy jar on the counter and instantly runs into the kitchen right to it. He keeps whining and fussing that he wants some candy and I keep telling him that it's all gone - no candy - come play over here - you want a cracker? All to no avail. Finally he looks up at me and says, "Peeze, Aw ooo" (Please, I love you). Um... yeah, I totally gave in after that and gave the kid some candy. (Wouldn't you?!)

This week brought some nicer weather for us. We took full advantage of that and went on lots of walks. First thing each morning Weston would race to the door and shout, "Walk!". (He's been very sad recently with all of the rain...)

Weston is a big boy now and goes down the slides all by himself.

This is what happens when you give your little one a girl's scout cookie - Thin Mint. Needless to say, he loved it.

Weston and daddy did some digging outside... you know, boy stuff. Daddy also let's Weston drag chairs all over the yard... cause dad is super cool like that.

So happy to get to hold his juice box all on his own... but he has to drink it in the kitchen or dining room. So we had to compromise and move one of the kitchen chairs over so he could see his movie from the dining room.

 You make your daddy and I laugh and we love watching you play. You are starting to pretend and it's so much fun to watch. You follow along more with what's going on in your shows/movies and you are very animated as you figure out what's happening. You use your hands a lot to gesture while you talk... I think you get that from me. =D You will now sit and pay attention through longer books - and books with more words on each page.
