Easter this year was a bit different than I had imagined it. In my mind I had thought that we'd have our baby at least a couple weeks before Easter - so we'd all be fairly healed up and ready for some fun festivities. But that's not quite how things worked out. Baby boy was born on Good Friday and we were discharged from the hospital Saturday evening. So Easter morning
was a bit blurred for me. Having a 36 hour old new born doesn't quite make
for the peppiest Easter morning - but I tried my best to enthusiastic and chipper. And Weston was thrilled to see his basket and eggs.
Although, his eyes really lit up when he opened up an egg and found chocolate... he truly is my son. :)
His basket contained a couple new puzzles (this kid is seriously all about puzzles these days), fruit snacks, a nerf football, and a Jacob's Ladder toy - along with some candy filled eggs (they were the same ones he hunted for the day before at my mother's house... gotta take advantage of the fact that he has no idea we reused the same candy and eggs like 4 times that week!)
We didn't head to church on Sunday - so in some ways it made it hard to feel like it was really Easter. But having a brand new baby join our family was a great reminder of what the Easter season is all about - and how truly amazing it is that I'll get to be with my little family forever.
And my family brought Easter dinner to our house - so that certainly helped bring the Easter vibe. Oh, and Uncle Kevin went a bit crazy with getting the nieces and Weston Easter goodies... seriously - it was ridiculous how much stuff he bought! What a fun uncle he is.

It was definitely a different Easter Sunday this year, but it will certainly be one to remember. I mean, it's not every day you bring home a new baby. :) And we can't wait for next year when we'll have two little men coloring eggs, going on Easter egg hunts, and waking up to find their Easter baskets.
