Wednesdays with Weston: The Return

Wow... it has been a really long time since we've done a Wednesdays with Weston post... but I feel it's high time they become a regular occurrence. I just love going back and re-reading them and remembering all the little things that I had forgotten. So I'm vowing to do better.

Weston is talking up a storm these days. Each day his words become clearer and clearer and he is saying more and more complete sentences. He's even using phrases we commonly say. It's hilarious and also a bit scary - we have to really watch what we say around him. Some of our favorite 'Weston-isms' are:
"You don't scare me Mr. Smoke Detector! You don't scare me."
"I'm tired. I've had a long day."
"Oh. My. Gosh!"
"Sit by you, mommy" (what he means is 'sit by me mommy')
"Love you too, Mommy" (he says that even if he's the one that initiates it)

Weston is a bit obsessed with glow sticks these days. He insists upon getting one every night before bed. If it were up to him he'd have 10 new ones every night at bed time. We've talked him down to one... but he does get three for his bath though - he just loves his glow stick baths (and so do I).

Daddy had to travel for work for most of the month of March - so it was just mommy and Weston to entertain ourselves. This resulted in mommy giving in on several occasions and letting little mister stay up way past his bed time. He was a big fan of this.
For about a month Weston carried this little lunch box around called it his 'packback' (backpack). He'd walk around the house collecting his treasures and storing them in his beloved 'backpack'.  At any given time it would hold coins (which are his favorite thing to collect), rocks, fruit snacks, and the occasional block or car.

The last few weeks of taking Weston to daycare were very early mornings. Daddy was out of town, so mommy had to drop him off before work. Weston, as always, was such a good sport about being woken early and hurried along.
We lucked out this winter with not having a whole lot of sickness - just the occasional runny nose followed by a deep chest cough. But on those couple days when we felt under the weather we made sure to curl up together and read lots of books... and of course it always helps to wear Daddy's slippers.
Car rides are always interesting with this little guy in the backseat. He loves to sing songs - real and made up - do 'tricks' (like balancing Cheerios on his lips or nose) - and he loves to comment on my driving. "Go faster Mommy!" "There are too many cars out." "Turn this way Mommy."

We bought a new chair for the front room - this resulted on an awesome box for playing. It was a rocket ship and a cave. It lived in our front room for almost a month before it was retired to the garage. Weston loved it though. It was big enough for him to walk right into. (Also, please note that his backpack obsession continued - only now he has upgraded to an actual little backpack to cart around and stow all his treasures in).

One evening it was relatively nice outside so we headed to the park behind Grandma Nettie's house once I was off work.
Weston loved being outside. It has been a long winter and Weston has definitely been chomping at the bit to go out and play.

Weston is embarking on the terrible threes. So far we have been pretty lucky in that Weston is really easy going and well mannered. But lately he is showing his independence and that results in some fierce looks and some angry yelling... also in this:
Weston has really taken to "helping" in the kitchen. If anything is being made in the kitchen, he pulls up his bar stool to get in on the action. I love it.
One evening at Grandma and Grandpa Brown's house they had cupcakes... and somehow Weston managed to talk me into letting him eat one before dinner. He was beyond thrilled.

These three little boys are cute as can be.
Weston is the best little shopper. He puts up with me dragging him all over the place. We stopped by Kohl's one evening so mommy could hit up some of the clearance racks. Weston stopped me when he saw one of their mannequins and asked me,

"Mommy, what that?"
"That's a mannequin. It shows us what the clothes look like when we wear them."
"Why no pants? It needs pants!"

So it looks like Weston is going to be our modesty police. :)
Weston loves his dart guns..
and insists on shooting them two at a time.
(That large orange blob at the bottom of the picture is my large pregnant belly)
Weston had really taken to wearing Tyler's shoes all around the house. Now I don't know who to blame when Tyler's shoes are left all over the house.

Weston's number one passion is pancakes. He'd eat them for every meal of every day if we let him. Unfortunately for him I only concede and make them once or twice a week - which is still a crazy amount. But how can I say no when he gets this excited about them (and since I love that he helps me make them)?
 Fish face
Puzzles are all the rage these days. And so are sweets... he really loved his peeps from Easter.

Weston loves doing whatever Daddy does and being where ever Daddy is. It really is so great to see them together. Tyler took the initiative to clean out the garage - and Weston kept him company almost the whole time.

Weston was especially thrilled when Daddy had cleared out enough of the garage to get to the jogging stroller. Weston instantly wanted it put together so he could climb inside. It was too cute. (Also, check out that hat! It was Tyler's but it has officially become Weston's. He doesn't like going anywhere without it).
That hat reminds me of the one the little boy wears on The Sandlot... the bill is so big on such a little boy.
Weston is so much fun. He has really grown up a lot in the last few months - and it is crazy to me that he's going to be turning three in just a few short weeks!!
