Although we had already gone to the pumpkin patch twice, we had yet to pick out any actual pumpkins for our family to carve for Halloween. Weston tends to be very particular when picking out pumpkins, and so the pumpkin patch is really overwhelming for him to find just the right one. So a few days before Halloween we headed to Reggies Veggies to let Weston pick out his perfect pumpkins to carve. We both loved the layout - the pumpkins are all lined up in rows and you can just walk up and down them to pick out just the right one. Plus the quality of pumpkins is awesome - nearly everyone would have been great to carve. They are a bit more expensive than what you can get at Walmart or Winco, but the selection is way better and the pumpkins look just like the quintessential Halloween pumpkins should. Totally worth it, in my book.
Weston has been on a pumpkin kick the past couple months - hence the pumpkin Halloween costume. I told him we can get four pumpkins, and he took his time selecting just the right ones. It was adorable to watch him bend over to inspect them closer, only to decide it wasn't the right one and move on, further down the row. After about 15 minutes he had managed to pick out 4 pumpkins (with a bit of help and encouragement from me - Harrison was getting hungry, so I was trying to speed this process up!). He was so excited to get them home and kept telling me how Daddy was going to be so proud of the pumpkins he picked.

*Unfortunately these precious pumpkins were never carved - some very ill-mannered teenagers in our subdivision smashed them in front of our house. Weston handled it better than I thought (and much better than me... I'm still pretty salty about it). We've used it as a life lesson for our son to not every be a punk kid who goes around destroying other peoples property. I hope that lesson sticks for the rest of his life!*
