Fawn Hill: Storybook Town

The highlight of our trip to California was to go to Fairy Tale Town. Going has been a tradition in Tyler's family for years. I was a bit surprised to see his excitement at going given that every story he has told me of this place was of how much he hated it growing up. Since Tyler is the oldest grandchild he was drug along to Fairy Tale Town long after it was "cool", so that the little kids could go and enjoy it. But now that we have little ones of our own, Tyler couldn't wait to share this place with them.

The whole thing is really a playground with a nursery rhyme theme; Little Bo Peep, Old Woman in the Shoe, etc. It was a great afternoon. The weather was perfect for being outdoors and we were all just thrilled to be spending time together as a family.

There were little speakers at each "ride" that would start playing the nursery rhyme once you inserted the key. These keys were Weston's favorite part. He loved getting to turn the key and start the music.

Weston was so excited to go down the slide at the Old Woman in the Shoe "ride...
but then he remembered that he is afraid of going down big slides. So he just sat up there and cried...
But then Grandpa came to the rescue and carried him down.

Yeah, this slide is more Weston's size.

4 Generations

We packed a picnic lunch and ate it in the cutest little picnic place.
Lots of trees and wonderful built-in picnic tables.

It was just after lunch that I figured out there was an IKEA only 15 minutes away... so I'm sure you can guess where we went next. :)
