Washington DC - Part XI

The 'Egg'stravaganza!

Saturday was full of all things Easter. In particular - the egg hunt. In true Renberg fashion my brother hid an obseen number of eggs and made sure to make lists of where they were all hidden.

We started off with a little BBQ. It wasn't too long till the kids were itching to get out there and hunt. Except for Weston... cause he had no idea what was going on... and he needed a nap.
The spread.
Each child was given an egg that was the same color as the eggs they would be finding (each child was given a specific color of egg to find - that is also a Renberg thing). Weston's eggs were blue and orange (we ran out of solid colors, so we had to make his eggs a combo of colors). The egg each child was given was empty, except for a little strip of paper that says, "He is not here, for he is risen" (that's also something from our childhood).
Chris giving the instructions...
Weston was fascinated by the Easter grass.
Weston did pretty good hunting out his eggs. It was a little tricky to explain that every egg he found he couldn't keep - only the BSU eggs. But he did remember that these eggs have candy in them - and he demanded that we unwrap some candy so he could have some right away.
Wait for it... wait for it...
Success!
Found another one.
Weston would just run around and then look behind him and see that we had slowed down or stopped and then come trodding back because he knew there must be an egg by where we were. I can't wait for next year because I think he'll have an even better idea of what's going on - and it's so fun to see his face when he finds an egg.
My brother has a very big yard... with lots of trees, shrubs, bark, fences, and other nooks and crannies that eggs can be hidden. Much better then our very basic backyard of just grass.
Eventually Weston had to pull out all the stops to find his eggs...
After the egg hunt there was a pinata - it was a bunny - so it was dubbed the bunata. Weston was currently taking a nap during this part of the festivities, but I don't think he would have participated in the swatting of the bunata.
It was a great afternoon and we were so happy that we were able to be there to celebrate it with family!
