Washington D.C. - Part XII

The Firework Show


Saturday evening there was a big firework show for the Cherry Blossom Festival downtown over the water. When we arrived there was a Taiko group that was playing music. So we stopped and listened to them while we waited for the fireworks to start.
(Blurry picture, but they were moving so fast that it was seriously impossible to get a clear shot without using the flash).

Weston was enthralled by the lights and music. And he was also stoked that we gave him a hundred glow sticks. =D

And then the fireworks started. They were beautiful. They had cherry blossom fireworks and Easter egg shaped fireworks. Super neat. 

Weston loved the fireworks - all the lights and none of the loud 'booming'. 

Behind us is one of the cherry blossom fireworks. 

After the show we went and walked along the pier. A lot of the boats were decorated for the Cherry Blossom Festival. 

A cherry blossom at the end of one of the docks. It had a huge flame in the middle... super neat.

At the end of the pier there is a fish market - can I just say, SICK. NASTY. GROSS. 

It smelled terrible and some of the crabs and stuff were still alive and moving - eek!! I should also mention that I am not a fan of seafood...  of any form - so I was less than thrilled to walk through the streets lined with dead sea life. 

But it was an experience... and even at 9:30 at night it was still a busy, busy place to be.

Another fun filled day - we most certainly went home and crashed... or watch a bunch of episodes of The Daily Show and 30 Rock on our laptop... =D We couldn't help ourselves - we were feigning for it.
