Washington D.C. - Part XIII

The D.C. Temple

We were originally going to do a session in the temple on Friday morning, but Thursday evening was a very rough night... VERY rough! A combination of a long day, mixed with a bit of sunburn and dehydration, and the knowledge that mom and dad were sleeping in the same room led to Mr. Weston being up for pretty much the whole night. It was terrible - and we subsequently slept through out alarms. 

So since we weren't able to do an actual session in the temple we decided to walk around the grounds Sunday evening - which was a pretty appropriate Sunday activity.

I honestly hadn't even seen pictures of the D.C. temple before this trip, so I was stunned when I caught my first glimpse of it from the freeway. 

It was a beautiful Easter evening - a tad bit windy - but wonderful, none the less.

Such a happy little guy.

He just kept pointing to everything - he was so excited.

 Weston loved the chance to run around - since he hadn't really been able to run much the few days before. So this was a common theme that evening... me running after him everywhere he went.

 He takes running around very seriously.

 I think this is the best shot we got of both little boys. Owen was very cooperative in taking pictures... Weston, was not.

 This temple is massive! And gorgeous!

The National Cathedral

After the temple we headed into D.C. further to the National Cathedral. It is a spectacular building with amazing architecture. It suffered some damage from the earthquake a few months back - so there was some scaffolding on the upper towers for repairs.

The next few pictures are fairly blurry, but using the flash took away the cool lighting and shadows that the cathedral has. 

 Weston was getting sleepy and could only be pacified with fruit snacks.

 The cathedral was gigantic!!

These two buildings are easily my pick for 'most breathtaking' in D.C.

I'm so glad we were able to see them.
