A few weeks back a friend of mine posted an event on Facebook. Her and her husband own Still Water Hollow event center and they were throwing an event, "Christmas at the North Pole". It was a free event, but you had to reserve your tickets because there was limited availability. Well I quickly hopped on over to the website and reserved our tickets right then without second thinking. Good thing too because the event sold out in just a couple hours. My friend was blown away by the response (last year was their first year doing the event, so they had no idea it would be this popular). I think people crave family oriented Christmas events - especially free ones.
The freshly fallen snow just added to the magic of the evening. The event was held in a small white chapel (which coincidentally used to be located by my mother's house when I was little, but was removed to build houses - and it was moved to this location). The chapel is as cute as can be. It only holds about 100 people at most, and it was the perfect cozy place to sing Christmas carols and have Santa come for a visit. All the children wore their Christmas jammies and it was so cute to see them all in their little festive pj's.
Inside was warm and decorated amazingly. The rustic, old fashioned décor was fitting. It was perfect.
The kids in the Santa hats were carols from Mt View high school. They sang a few songs and then lead us in singing some childhood classics: Jingle Bells, Sleigh Ride, etc.
Tyler was great and held Harrison almost the entire time. Turns out this little man is cutting four top teeth and was much more comfortable being held by his daddy.
One of Santa's cutest reindeer!
Santa's other adorable reindeer.

As we were singing "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" guess who showed up?!?!? Yep, the big man himself.
Santa came told us the story of St. Nick and his purpose of helping those in need and that he was giving of himself just as Christ did... and that is what Christmas is all about. That we need to give of our time, talents, and sometimes of our wealth to those around us because that is what Christ has done for us. It was perfect.
After Santa left we all headed over to the reception hall where they had warm cookies and milk and a Christmas movie set up for the kids.
Weston insisted on sitting right next to the projector - even though there weren't any blankets there... silly kid.
Daddy and Harrison found a seat near the back.
We didn't stay until the end of the movie. It was starting to get late and we wanted to get home and get the boys in bed... and get Harrison some Tylenol.
The evening was perfect and I loved that it was geared towards children. I hope that we can go again next year... it may be a stiff competition to get tickets, so we'll have to see.
Weston had so much fun that night that it took awhile for him to unwind and fall asleep. We managed to capture a little video of his jolliness before he drifted off to sleep.
